Hi! My name is Mike Faught, and I recently purchased Prairie Goose Outfitters. This is the realization of a Long Time Dream.
A little about me and my waterfowl experience. I have been hunting Upland since I was 12. I came later to Waterfowl. A college buddy took me out in 1991 and we had what he would call a poor hunt, but I was hooked. I love every aspect of the hunt. The camaraderie, the dogs, the decoys, the boats, the traditions, the strategy. I love that it is often difficult and that not everyone is drawn to it. I have always been a public land hunter, and I believe that highly competitive experience will help me give you the hunt of a lifetime. I've hunted extensively in Washington State and North Idaho. I've harvested everything from Sea Ducks to Blue-winged Teal in Washington,17 different species. I'm well experienced in everything from dry fields and small pond hunts to huge diver spreads on Big water. My personal favorites are Redheads and Cans. I love hunting the Columbia River out of a pumpkinseed layout boat. I am fortunate to hunt the Palouse wheat fields, the Moses Lake area potholes, and the Pend O’Reille River in northern Washington and Idaho as my home area. We have a 107-day season and I hunt every chance I get from the first days that are T-shirt weather to the last when we get frozen out. I will hunt anything in season, but Waterfowl is my passion.
I've been a Registered Nurse for 32 years. Mostly in critical care areas, and most recently in outpatient specialty care. I've worked in multiple hospitals and systems. I’ve been in the VA for the last 18 years, and plan to retire from nursing by early 2027. Serving the Veterans has been my calling and is very close to my heart.
I served in the US Navy Reserve, in the SeaBees from 1985-1993. I was called up for Desert Storm but never made it overseas before it was over.
My professional career is based on service, and I believe that experience will help ensure you have a great time hunting with us!
